I write mystery thrillers because I’m drawn to complexity—of people, of secrets, and of the choices we make when the odds are against us.
What lies beneath the surface fascinates me: hidden motives, unresolved trauma, and unseen forces, emotional or otherwise, shaping decisions. Humans rarely act without reason, even when their actions appear irrational, cruel, or self-destructive. I dig into the buried experiences, unspoken fears, and moral compromises steering behavior long before a crime is committed or a truth is revealed.
Unseen Forces

But the hidden factors aren’t always supernatural. They could be grief left unexamined, guilt rationalized, or power abused under the cover of normalcy. The paranormal mirrors what already exists inside my characters. It externalizes the internal, making it impossible to ignore. What haunts my fictional friends is not exclusive to what they’ve lost, but what they have refused to face.
I’m less interested in shock value and more concerned with cause and effect. Every action casts a shadow. Secrets have weight. What’s buried—emotional, psychological, or literal—demands to be seen.
Twists, Layers & Characters with Oomph

My stories are built on layered plots, strategic twists, and a steady undercurrent of tension, populated by quirky, memorable characters grounded in strong, authentic relationships. Their quirks aren’t gimmicks. They are tells. Personality cracks where history leaks through. Habits, humor, stubbornness, and sharp edges all come from lived experience, not authorial decoration.
These characters feel real because they are shaped by the people around them. Friendships are tested under pressure. Loyalties are strained by secrets. Love is complicated by fear, grief, and ethical conflict. Even moments of levity carry weight, offering relief without breaking the spell of the story.
The result is a crew of characters you want to spend time with, not because they’re exaggerated, but because they are recognizable. They argue, protect one another, make bad decisions for understandable reasons, and grow through consequence. In a world where danger is constant and truth is slippery, these relationships become the emotional anchor that makes every twist land harder.
Witty Banter for the Win

Did I mention witty banter and strong dialog are important to me when I read and write?
Dialogue is where characters reveal themselves, power shifts, and truths are exposed. A single line can escalate tension, deepen relationships, or land harder than action ever could.
And witty banter isn’t filler—it’s a shield or a weapon. Humor deflects fear, masks trauma, and sharpens conflict. Clever comebacks and joshing can advance the plot, ease a moment, or raise the stakes.
A Dash of Spookiness

The paranormal aspects in my novels aren’t spectacle for spectacle’s sake; they serve as another lens to explore truth, justice, and accountability. The dead don’t always appear to frighten. They surface when something is unresolved. Secrets, lies, and moral failures have weight, and they don’t disappear just because time passes or someone gets away with it.
Why is Accountability Important
Culpability is important in Creekwood. Characters are forced to confront the consequences of their actions, whether through the legal system, personal reckoning, or supernatural intervention when human justice falls short. The otherworldly becomes a mechanism that strips away denial. You can’t gaslight a ghost, or outrun guilt when truths won stay buried.
These elements challenge the idea of what can be proven in a courtroom, asking difficult questions: What do we owe the dead? Or the living? And what is the duty of care when we know the truth—even if exposing it is inconvenient, dangerous, or uncomfortable?

For Whom Do I Write
I write for readers who appreciate smart, immersive thrillers—stories that challenge assumptions, reward close attention, and linger long after the final page.
